# Radios app — Internal audio shows

## Overview

**Radios** allows listening to internal audio broadcasts directly in Steeple. Each **radio** contains **episodes**. The creation and management of radios and episodes are **reserved for administrators** ; other employees can **listen to** the radios whose audience includes one of their communities.

The app is accessible to everyone from the main menu (microphone icon), at the route `/app/radios`, on desktop and mobile. Episodes can also be viewed from the **Radios** tab of a community space and from TV screens.

## Your first radio already exists

When the app is opened, the organization automatically receives a weekly radio, **“The Weekly”** (“Weekly recap of everything that happened”), set to the opening day and time. It is ready to use: the first episode comes out without intervention. Everything can be edited — name, description, sources, day and time of broadcast.

## How episodes are produced

Two mechanisms, which **coexist on the same radio** :

* **automatic generation** : at each scheduled slot, AI produces an episode from the content published in Steeple since the previous one. Audio, script, cover art and transcription are generated automatically. If there is nothing new during the period, no episode is produced;
* **manual addition** : an administrator provides the audio themselves, by **import** of a file or by **recording** into the microphone. Transcription remains automatic.

A radio whose automatic generation is disabled continues to receive manual episodes.

## Create and edit a radio (administrators)

From the Radios app, **New radio**. The form is completed in three steps.

### 1. Settings

* **Last name** (mandatory);
* **Description** (optional);
* **Cover image** : to import, to **generate with AI** (from the name and description) or leave blank (a monogram is then displayed);
* **Generation language** for episodes (script and voice): left on **automatic**, it is detected from recent community content during the first generation; it can also be explicitly fixed;
* **Instructions** (optional): guidelines taken into account when writing the script — tone, recurring sections, topics to prioritize or avoid. They cannot override fidelity to the source content.

### 2. Audience & sources

* **Audience** : one or more communities (required). It defines both **who can listen to** the radio **and the scope of the sources** — only their direct content is used, not that of their sub-communities. Choose the root community to cover the whole organization.
* **Sources** of content, to enable as needed: **Posts**, **Events**, **Messaging** (community conversations), **Feeds**, **Jobs**, **Documents**.

### 3. Automatic generation

A switch enables or disables automatic generation, **at any time** (including on an existing radio). When it is active:

* **Frequency** : weekly or daily;
* **Broadcast day(s)** : one day only for weekly, one or more for daily;
* **Time slot** : a one-hour window, chosen in **your time zone**.

## How many radios, at what frequency

The number of radios and available frequencies depend on the organization's plan:

* **paid AI offer** : up to **5 radios**, daily or weekly frequency;
* **without this offer** : **1 radio**, weekly frequency.

The cap counts all radios, whether they generate automatically or not. Once reached, creating an additional radio is blocked; editing existing radios remains possible.

## Add an episode manually (administrators)

From a radio, **Add an episode**, then:

* **Import** : select an audio file (MP3, M4A, AAC, WAV, OGG, FLAC or WebM) and enter a **title** ; the file is uploaded then automatically transcribed;
* **Save** : enter a title, then record live — the text appears as you go. Each segment can be replayed, reordered, retranscribed or deleted. Finish with **Save episode**.

## Listening

* **Persistent player** : playback continues while navigating in Steeple (on desktop), via a mini-player integrated into the menu.
* **Playback queue** : the buttons **previous episode** and **next episode** chain the radio's episodes together, and playback automatically moves to the next one at the end of an episode.
* Controls: play/pause, stop, volume, mute, progress bar.
* **Subtitles / transcription** synchronized with playback, with speaker identification.
* An **notification** is sent when a new episode is released and links directly to it.

## Rights and permissions

Creating, editing and deleting radios, as well as adding manual episodes, requires an **administrator role**. Other employees can only **listen to** the radios accessible to their communities.

## What the assistant can do

The assistant does not have a tool to manage radios. For creating and managing radios and episodes (reserved for administrators), direct the user to the Radios app.
