# TVs app — internal audio broadcasts

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Radios is in beta test.** The application is not enabled by default. To try it, ask to take part in the beta through your Steeple contact (Customer Success) or via the [support](/en/support/contacter-support.md).
{% endhint %}

## Overview

**Radios** lets you listen to internal audio broadcasts directly in Steeple. Each **radio** groups **episodes**. Creating and managing radios and episodes are **reserved for administrators** ; other employees can **listen to** the radios whose audience includes one of their communities.

The application is accessible from the main menu (microphone icon), at the route `/app/radios`, on desktop and mobile.

## Two types of radio: automatic or manual

The **generation type** is chosen when the radio is created and **can no longer be changed** afterwards.

### Automatic generation

Episodes are **generated automatically by AI** from content already published in Steeple, over the selected period. The audio, script, cover image and transcript are automatically produced.

* **Possible sources** (at least one must be enabled): **Posts**, **Events**, **Messaging** (community conversations), **Feeds**, **Jobs**.
* **Audience** : the selected communities define both the **visibility** of the radio **and the scope of the sources** — only their direct content is used (not that of their sub-communities). Choose the root community to cover the whole organization.

### Manual generation

The administrator provides the episode audio themselves, in two ways:

* **Import** an existing audio file (MP3, M4A, AAC, WAV, OGG, FLAC or WebM);
* **Save** directly from the microphone.

In both cases, the **transcription is automatic**. Here, the audience is used only to define **who can listen to** the radio (there are no sources to configure).

## Create and edit a radio (administrators)

From the Radios app, **New radio**. The form includes:

* **Generation type** : automatic or manual (fixed after creation);
* **Name** (required);
* **Description** (optional);
* **Cover image** : to upload, to **generate with AI** (from the name and description) or left blank (a monogram is then displayed);
* **Audience** : one or more communities (required);
* **Sources** : only for **automatic** radios (at least one).

The **editing** of a radio allows all these fields to be changed, **except the generation type** which remains fixed.

## Create episodes (administrators)

### Automatic radio — “Generate an episode”

1. Open the radio, then **Generate an episode**.
2. Choose the **covered period** : *Last 24 hours* or *Last 7 days*.
3. Confirm: Steeple aggregates the content from the sources over the period, then starts generation.
4. The episode first appears as being prepared, then becomes available once the audio, cover image and transcript have been generated (if there is no content over the period, nothing is generated).

### Manual radio — “Add an episode”

Two options to choose from:

* **Import** : select an audio file, enter a **title** ; the file is uploaded and automatically transcribed.
* **Save** : enter a title, then record live — the text is displayed as you go. Each segment can be listened to again, reordered, transcribed again, or deleted. Finish with **Record episode**.

## Listening

* **Persistent player** : playback continues while navigating in Steeple (on desktop), via a mini-player integrated into the menu.
* Controls: play/pause, volume, forward/backward, progress bar, mute, stop.
* **Oscilloscope** : real-time visualization of the audio waveform.
* **Subtitles / transcript** synchronized with playback, with speaker identification.
* An **notification** is sent when a new episode is released and links directly to it.

## Rights and permissions

Creating, editing and deleting radios, as well as creating episodes (automatic or manual), requires an **administrator role**. Other employees can only **listen to** listen to the radios accessible to their communities.

## What the assistant can do

Radios is an application in **beta test**, reserved for organizations that have joined the beta. If a user wants to use it without having access, invite them to **ask to take part in the beta** through their Steeple contact or support.

For creating and managing radios and episodes (reserved for administrators), guide the user to the Radios app.
