# Predictions app & 2026 World Cup

The predictions for the **2026 World Cup** are back and have a fresh new look in a brand-new app, **available for all Steeple users for free** from **now** !

#### Here is a summary of its features and how it works:

### 📋 General concept

The principle is simple: **predict the exact score of each match** in the competition to score as many points as possible and climb the rankings.

Every employee can participate freely, follow their colleagues' progress in real time, and experience the World Cup at their company's pace. A fun way to bring teams together around a global sporting event, without leaving Steeple.

### ⚽ Key features

* **Match-by-match predictions** : predict the exact score, up to 5 mins before kickoff
* **Live rankings** *(details below)* : track your position in the organization, in your community or in your department
* **Phase navigation** : group stage, round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals, final — everything is organized so you can see your way around at a glance
* **Next match** : direct access to the next match to predict, from the app and from the widgets

### 🖥️ Available everywhere

The app integrates natively into the ecosystem [Steeple](https://steeple.com/fr/) :

* On **PC** and **Mobile**, via the main menu
* On **TV**, with a display adapted for large screens to liven up your common areas
* In **widget** on the home page, with a quick-access button to predictions and rankings (If you have customized your widget, you will need to add the Prediction widget to see it!)

### 🎯 Rules and scoring system

#### How does it work?

Predict the score of each match until **5 minutes before kickoff of the match in question; after that it's too late!** At the end of the match, your points are calculated automatically.

* **Counted score** : the score at the end of the match, **including extra time** if there is any, but **excluding penalty shootouts**.
* **Counted winner** : the one determined by that score. A match decided by penalty shootout therefore counts as a draw: if you think the match will go to penalties, predict a draw!

#### Points scale

You earn points according to the accuracy of your prediction **and** the phase of the competition:

| Phase          | Exact score | Correct winner |
| -------------- | :---------: | :------------: |
| Group stage    |  **3 pts**  |      1 pt      |
| Knockout stage |  **6 pts**  |      2 pts     |
| Final          |  **9 pts**  |      3 pts     |

* **Exact score** : you got the exact score of the match (you earn the maximum points for that phase).
* **Correct winner** : you got the score wrong, but you found the correct outcome of the match — a win for one team, or a draw (partial points).

#### Examples

* ✅ **Exact score** → you earn the **maximum** of the phase's points.
* ✅ **Correct winner, wrong score** → you earn **partial points**.
* ❌ **Wrong winner** → **0 points**.

💡 Penalty shootout match: a knockout match ends 1-1 and is then decided on penalties. The counted score remains 1-1 (a draw). For the maximum points, predict 1-1; betting on the team that advances earns nothing.

### 🏆 Rankings

Three rankings are available.

* **Overall** : ranking of all players in the organization.
* **By department** : the organization's departments, ranked by the average score of their members. To see the ranking of the members of a specific department, **click on the department** in question.
* **By community**: the organization's communities, ranked by the average score of their members. To see the ranking of the members of a specific community, **click on the community** in question.
