# How do I manage sections in News?

### Overview

The **Sections** are the central organizational unit of the News app. Each section groups publications and controls who can publish and who can read.

### Create a section

From **News** you can manage and configure the sections:

Each section is configured with:

* **Last name** and **description**
* **Logo**
* **Contributors** : communities or specific members authorized to publish in this section
* **Audience** : communities that have read access
* **Visibility** : displayed on the main feed ("Featured") or accessible only from the section

### Edit a section

From News, manage your sections, click on an existing section to:

* Change its name, description, image
* Change the contributors or audience
* Change the visibility on the main feed

### Delete a section

Deleting a section is permanent. However, publications can be transferred to another existing section.

### Alert frequency

The administrator can configure the alert frequency per section, which determines how often members receive notifications for new publications in that section.

### Display on TV screens

Sections can also be displayed on Steeple TV screens.

### Permissions

| Role              | Rights                                                                 |
| ----------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Administrator** | Create, edit, delete sections. Manage contributors and audience. |
| **Contributor** | Publish in the sections assigned to them. |
| **Collaborator** | Read publications from the sections they are part of the audience for. |

### What the assistant can do

The assistant cannot manage sections directly. It can explain how to access them and how they work.
