# How do I delete a community?

### Prerequisites before deletion

Before you can delete a community, you must **delete all of its publication categories** first. A community that still contains publication categories cannot be deleted.

### Important distinction

* **Publication categories** : these are the sections where members post within a community (e.g., "News", "Team Life"). They are managed from the community settings.
* **TV modules** : these are the contents displayed on connected TV screens. They are separate from publication categories and are managed from the TV Screens section of the administration.

Do not confuse the two: deleting TV modules is not enough to delete a community.

### Deletion steps

1. Go to **Administration** > **Communities** (`/administration/communities`)
2. Select the community to delete
3. First delete all publication categories in this community
4. Once the community has no categories left, you can delete it

### What the assistant can do

The assistant cannot yet delete a community or manage publication categories. In the meantime, it can guide the user to the page **Administration** > **Communities** via the navigate\_to tool so that they can perform these actions themselves.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://help.steeple.com/en/administration/supprimer-communaute.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
