# How do I delete a community?

### Before deleting

Deletion is **permanent** : a deleted community cannot be restored.
{% endhint %}

* The **main community** cannot be deleted.
* Only an **the organization administrator** can delete a community.

### Deletion steps

**1.** Go to **Administration** > **Communities** (`/administration/communities`)

**2.** On the community row, click **Settings** (gear icon)

**3.** Open the menu **Actions**, then choose **Delete the community**

**4.** In the window **Community deletion**, click on **Confirm**

### What the assistant can do

The assistant cannot delete a community for you. It can open the page for you **Administration** > **Communities**, where you delete it yourself.
