# How do I delete a community?

### Prerequisites before deletion

Before you can delete a community, you must **delete all of its publication categories** first. A community that still contains publication categories cannot be deleted.

### Important distinction

* **Publication categories** : these are the sections where members post within a community (e.g. "News", "Team life"). They are managed from the community settings.
* **TV modules** : these are the content displayed on connected TV screens. They are separate from publication categories and are managed from the TV Screens section of the admin.

Do not confuse the two: deleting TV modules is not enough to delete a community.

### Deletion steps

1. Go to **Administration** > **Communities** (`/administration/communities`)
2. Select the community to delete
3. First delete all publication categories from this community
4. Once the community is free of categories, you can delete it

### What the assistant can do

The assistant cannot yet delete a community or manage publication categories. In the meantime, it can guide the user to the page **Administration** > **Communities** via the navigate\_to tool so they can perform these actions themselves.
