# Language management in Steeple

### Change the interface language

Each user can choose their interface language from **Settings** > **Account** > **Language**.

### Available languages

* **French** (fr)
* **English** (en)
* **Spanish** (es)
* **German** (de)
* **Italian** (it)
* **Portuguese** (pt)
* **Catalan** (ca)
* **Dutch** (nl)
* **Polish** (pl)
* **Swedish** (sv)

### Impact of language choice

* The Steeple interface (menus, buttons, system messages) is displayed in the chosen language
* Notifications are sent in the user's language
* Automatic translation of posts uses this language as the target language (if the feature is enabled)
* The AI assistant replies in the language used by the user in their message

### What the assistant can do

The assistant cannot change a user's language. It can explain how to access it in the settings and will always reply in the language used in the message.
